Wow, it fits perfectly!

"Hey, Mom, look what I found in the back closet. It's Christmas in August!"

Alex models his new pull-up diapers. He started to figure out how to undo the tabs on the other ones.

New "Big Boy" Bed

Now that Alex is finished teething for a while, he's sleeping really well at night -- either wakes only once, or not at all. Depending on how many naps he's had during the day, he goes to bed between 8 and 10 p.m. and wakes up between 5 and 7 a.m.

Napping. Alex refuses to have blankets on him, so at night we just bundle him up really good in some warm, fuzzy pajamas.

The Great Communicator

I thought it would be fun to take an inventory of the words Alex can say. So far, his most used and identifiable words are "uh-oh," "hi," "bye," "ok," and "tattoo." I thought I heard him say "yeah" the other day as well. Some other words he can say that require a bit of parental translation are "peekaboo," "thank you," "gentle," and "refill." Matt says he calls the dog "Boo." And, of course, how could we forget? -- He says "Mama" and "Papa," too.

Lop Eared Tick Catcher

wolf.jpg It's Alex's scrapbook, I know. We haven't quite figured out what to do with Beauford pictures though, and this is a good one. This is what I'm greeted with every day when I get home from work. He likes to bite my boots too.

The balcony

July31 045.jpg

He spends roughly 2 hours a day standing out on the balcony looking thru the bars. Leanne tells me there's a story about those flowerpots. She had them thrown in the corner. He put them there. Leanne adds: The flowerpots have actually been removed from the balcony recently for safety reasons. Not only has Alex figured out how to stack them and line them up in neat little rows, but he's also discovered that he can flip them over and stand on them, which puts him a little too close to the top of the bars for comfort.

Remodeling complete

For the past couple weeks, we've been working on redesigning Alex's Web site so it will be something that grows with him over the years. The month-by-month narratives worked well when he was smaller, but are difficult to maintain now -- mostly because he changes so quickly. With this new system, we will be giving smaller but much more frequent updates, and both Matt and Leanne will be contributing (And maybe Alex too when he gets big enough to type a word or two). Don't worry; all the old pictures are still in the archive.
