Five Months Old

Alex has been unavailable for picture-taking the past few weeks because of a bad cold. He's over it now, though, and is feeling a bit more photogenic.

Even with being under the weather, he's been working hard on rolling, and can now do a full 360-degree flip -- from back to tummy, and on to back again. He also has developed an early form of crawling that is best described as a "belly scoot." Very often, Leanne has to rescue him in the middle of the night because he's flipped on his tummy, scooted his head into the corner of his crib, and is screaming mad because he can't get out of his predicament.

Alex sits supported very well now, and has taken a serious interest in his feet. If he could stick them in his mouth he would, but he can't quite reach that far yet.

Other developments: New socks in a larger size, new convertible-to-toddler-size car seat, manipulating toys with both hands, smiling at the dog, flipping on his tummy to take naps and squealing with delight during games of peek-a-boo.

Alex gives a long speech about ... something.

"Uh oh, upside-down. This always seems to happen when Daddy's home."

"Yay! I flipped on my tummy."

Alex plays with his new musical kick-and-grab toy. Luckily, it has an off switch for the music or we'd be subjected to "Pop Goes the Weasel" several dozen times in a row.

Playing with Al, his stuffed alligator.

Sitting on Matt's legs, trying to chew on Al.

Upside-down, again.

"Okay, I've had it. Too many pictures.
Put the camera away. Naptime."
