One Year Old

A Day in the Life of Alex
From the moment he wakes up in the morning until he finally collapses for the night, Alex is a busy little guy. A typical day goes something like this:

7:23 a.m. Breakfast (oatmeal).

8:35 a.m. Helping with the laundry.

9:23 a.m. Swinging at the park.

10:07 a.m. Getting some groceries.

11:43 a.m. Lunch (carrots).

12:16 p.m. Nap (Alex actually takes two daily naps, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon)

2:28 p.m. Practicing standing.

3:37 p.m. Afternoon snack. Denied.

4:22 p.m. Helping cook supper.

5:43 p.m. Going for a bike ride.

8:32 p.m. Bath before bedtime.
Alex in a nutshell
  • Height: 2 feet, 5 inches
  • Weight: 21 lbs, 10 oz.
  • Number of teeth: 8
  • First spontaneous word: "Uh-oh!"
  • Likes: Going for walks strapped into his frontpack, giggling at silly noises, playing peek-a-boo and tug-of-war, taking books off shelves and items out of drawers and cabinets, clanking pots and pans together.
  • Dislikes: When the bath bubbles go away, getting shirts stuck over his head, the funny hats the workers at the deli wear (he cries every time they try to coo at him), long car rides, the vacuum cleaner, the electric mixer.
  • Recently discovered: How Duplo blocks fit together, how to play catch, if you sip the water from a straw too quickly it makes you choke, Matt has a funny wart on his back (pick, pick, pick), getting off the couch requires help from someone else, the VCR eats fingers if you aren't careful, the patio floor is really, really cold on bare feet.
